PuloMax Acoustic Honeycomb Panels combine the structural advantages of aviation-grade aluminum honeycomb technology with precision-engineered sound absorption — creating a ceiling and wall panel that performs acoustically without compromising on fire safety, flatness, or design flexibility.
The panel is built on the same stressed-skin honeycomb platform: two aluminum alloy skins bonded to a lightweight hexagonal core. The difference is in the front skin — precision-perforated with your choice of hole pattern, diameter, and open area ratio, backed with a layer of black or white non-woven acoustic fleece. When sound waves strike the perforated surface, they pass into the honeycomb core where the fleece and cell cavities convert sound energy into negligible heat through friction — achieving NRC values up to 0.85.

Key Features
Broadband Sound Absorption — NRC up to 0.85 — Combined effect of resistive absorption (acoustic fleece) and Helmholtz resonance in the honeycomb cells for effective sound control across a wide frequency range.
A2 Non-Combustible Fire Rating (EN 13501-1 A2-s1,d0) — Aluminum structure is inherently non-combustible. The acoustic fleece is fire-rated. Suitable for the most stringent fire safety environments.
Custom Acoustic Tuning — We work with project acousticians to select the optimal perforation pattern, hole diameter, open area ratio, and fleece type for your target NRC and frequency response.
Large Format with Superior Flatness — Same aviation-grade honeycomb platform. Maximum 2000 x 12000mm with flatness within 1.5mm per linear meter.
Design Freedom — Perforation is both functional and visual. Choose from round, square, slotted, elliptical, or custom patterns. Combine perforated and non-perforated zones on the same panel.
Lightweight Installation — Approximately 8 kg/m2 at 20mm thickness, easy to handle and install. Lower dead load reduces substructure requirements.
Integrated System — Acoustic function is built into the panel. No need for separate acoustic baffles or plenum insulation — simplifying specification, procurement, and installation.
Durable & Cleanable — Unlike fabric-wrapped acoustic panels that trap dust and cannot be cleaned, the metal surface can be wiped down. Acoustic fleece is protected behind the perforated skin.

Perforation Design Options
Hole Shapes: Round, square, slotted, elliptical, or custom patterns
Hole Diameters: 1.0mm to 10.0mm (smaller holes invisible at distance, larger holes make a design statement)
Open Area Ratio: 5% to 40% — lower ratios for subtle visual and moderate absorption, higher ratios for maximum absorption
Acoustic Fleece: Black polyester (invisible through holes ≤ 3mm) or white polyester (visible-through designs)
Applications
Auditoriums & Concert Halls — Targeted absorption across the full audible spectrum. A2 fire rating satisfies assembly occupancy requirements.
Conference Rooms & Boardrooms — Reduces flutter echo and controls reverberation for clear speech intelligibility.
Open-Plan Offices — Absorbs conversation noise at source, reducing the "cafeteria effect" that makes open-plan spaces unproductive.
Transport Hubs (Airports, Railway, Metro) — Absorbs crowd noise and PA reverberation while meeting strict A2 fire codes.
Atria & Galleria — Controls reverberation in large-volume spaces without adding visible acoustic treatments.
Educational Spaces — Lecture halls and libraries need acoustic conditions that support both the lecturer's voice and group discussion.
Restaurant & Hospitality — Brings noise level down to comfortable conversation without the "padded cell" look of foam treatments.
Installation
Compatible with Hook-On, Concealed Framed, and Exposed Fastener systems. Custom installation drawings (CAD/DWG) provided. On-site supervision available for large projects. Important: Honeycomb panels must NOT be cut on site — cutting exposes the core and compromises edge sealing, fire integrity, and warranty.
FAQ
Q: How do I choose the right perforation pattern?
Send us your target NRC, room dimensions, and any frequency-specific concerns. Our engineers will recommend the optimal hole diameter, open area ratio, and fleece type.
Q: Does perforation affect the fire rating?
No. The A2-s1,d0 fire rating is maintained regardless of perforation pattern. The acoustic fleece is fire-rated.
Q: Is the acoustic fleece visible through the holes?
Black fleece behind holes ≤ 3mm is effectively invisible at normal viewing distances (2m+). For larger holes, white fleece provides a clean appearance.
Q: How does panel thickness affect acoustic performance?
Thicker panels shift the Helmholtz resonance to lower frequencies. A 50mm panel will absorb more low-frequency energy than a 10mm panel with the same perforation pattern.
Q: Can these panels be used in exterior applications?
Not typically recommended for exposed exterior use, as rain and debris could enter the holes and degrade the fleece. Contact us for project-specific evaluation of semi-exposed areas.
